M.E. students raising money through ‘Kindness Matters’

Jan 16, 2019

Mukilteo Elementary students are raising money for their school by completing acts of kindness for others.

The fundraiser, Kindness Matters, will help support various activities at the school.

“During the fundraiser, students go out and pay it forward by completing acts of kindness for others,” said fundraiser chair Chia Yang. “Our students ask friends and families for donations while spreading acts of kindness in the community. We picked this fundraiser in an effort to get more of our students involved, while teaching the value of gratitude and paying it forward in the community.”

Yang said the hope is that by doing these acts of kindness, it will shape the students’ character, and will allow for all students, regardless of family wealth, to participate.

“Students are encouraged to participate in acts of kindness at home as well as planned events at the school,” Yang said.

The fundraiser is scheduled for Jan. 31 through Feb. 17, which Yang said coordinates with Random Acts of Kindness month.
The fundraiser supports many programs at Mukilteo Elementary such as music instruction/orchestra, outdoor classroom/science, STEM nights and projects, ART docents, and others.
