Map Your Neighborhood class

The Mukilteo Fire Department is hosting their last Map Your Neighborhood class of 2018 this Thursday.

The purpose of the class is to prepare neighborhoods to care for each other when disaster strikes.

This is a two-hour workshop on how to implement Map Your Neighborhood and to help citizens be prepared in a disaster by empowering yourself and your neighbors.

 

Participants will:

  • Learn the basics of the Map Your Neighborhood program.
  • Receive tips on getting the program started in your neighborhood.
  • Receive hands on training at the Mukilteo Fire Department.
  • Learn the 9 Steps to take immediately following a disaster.
  • Develop a neighborhood skills and equipment inventory.
  • Map your neighborhood & identify areas of concern such as gas meters.
  • Verify which neighbors need extra help in a disaster such as the elderly, those with a disability, or children who may be alone.

 

The last class for 2018 is this Thursday, July 19, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Mukilteo Fire Department Station 25.
