Mariner competes against Monroe, Lynnwood | Prep track and field

The Mariner boys and girls track and field teams traveled to Monroe on Thursday, April 24 for league meet against the Bearcats and Lynnwood.

In the boys competition, Dyonte Law finished in second place in the 100-meter race in 11.46 seconds, while Darius Tolbert was third at 11.59.

Law also won the 200-meter race in 23.35, with Peter Wainaina was fourth in 24 seconds.

Wainaina was second in the 400-meter in 53.45, with Anthany Smith in third at 53.66.

Juwan Smith was first overall in the 800-meter race in 2:15, followed by Isaiah Marshall was second in 2:17.4 and Spencer Anderson was fourth in 2:17.69.

Anderson was second in the 1,600-meter race in 5:08.79, with Alvin Nguyen was fourth in 5:11.90.

Oscar Flores-Montes was second in the 3,200-meter race in 11:24.72.

Jose Irizarry finished in first place in the 110-meter hurdles in 16.09, with Tolbert in second in 16.28 and Jabari Baker was fourth in 17.25 and Koron Jones in fifth in 18.28.

Irizarry was also first in the 300-meter hurdles in 4-.75, followed by Glenn Hunt in second at 44.11 and Damon Doph in fifth in 44.98.

The Marauders 4x100 relay team of Jones, Law, Christian Larkins and Irizarry finished in third place in 47 seconds.

The 4x400 relay team of Jordan Scarborough, Carlos Vazquez, Hunt and Marshall finished in first place in 3:40.10.

In the shot put, Octayvien Sapp was second with a throw of 45 feet, 8.5 inches, while Curtis Billen was third at 40-07.

Billen finished in second in the discus with a throw of 127 feet, while teammate Jammie Phea was third in the high jump at 5-02 and JJ Walker was fourth at 5 feet.

Walker finished in second place in the pole vault at 9-06, while Tyler Toombs was fifth at 7 feet.

Law finished in second place in the long jump with a leap of 19-09, while Larkins was third at 17-08, Kenneth Joven was fourth at 16-10 and Vazquez was fifth at 16-06.25.

Scarborough was third in the triple jump with a leap of 39-09.5, while Larkins was fourth at 39-0.5.

In the girls competition, Imani Tillman was second in the 100-meter race in 13.42, with Brianna Nelson in fifth at 14.32.

Stahzee McSwain was fourth in the girls 200-meter race in 28.84, while Tillman was fourth in the 400-meter event in 1:08.42.

Abbie Steinhauer was second in the 800-meter race in 2:39.59, while Sofya Kirpach was third in 2:43.18.

Steinhauer was also second in the 1,600-meter race in 5:41.69, while Honglam Van was fourth in 6:11.03.

In the 3,200 meter race, Isabelle Mills was fourth in 13:52.80, while Lorena Gutierrez-Perez was fifth in 14:19.6.

Naomi Eastland was second in the girls 100-meter hurdles race in 17.09 and was second in the 300-meter race in 47.50.

The Marauders 4x100 relay team of Eastland, Shayla Forbes-Luong, Tillman and McSwain were first in 53.85. Mariner's Cassie Sevigny, Tillman, Forbes-Luong and McSwain were third in the 4x200 relay in 1:59.2, while Ashely Reola, Emily Coelho, Kirpach and Susan Boardman finished in third place in the 4x400 relay in 4:47.43.

In the girls discus, Melissa Casel finished in second place at 80-07, while Julia Marshall was third at 75-04 and Megan Leeser was fourth at 65-03.

Arnela Grebovic was first in the javelin with a throw of 90-09, while Casel was third at 81 feet even.

JomJam Asdathron finished in third in the high jump at 4-04, followed by Tessa Nida in fifth at 4 feet.

Sasha Strizhakova was fifth in the girls triple jump at 27-10.5.

Mariner will travel to Bellevue High School on Saturday, April 26 for the Bellevue Open starting at 10 a.m. The team will host Cascade on Thursday, May 1 in a league meet.
