Mariner excelling in and out of pool | Girls swimming

By David Pan | Sep 26, 2018

The Mariner girls swim team includes both those new to the sport and others who are hope to make some noise in the postseason.

“We begin each season teaching half of the girls how to swim,” Marauders coach Jennifer Parker-Angelos said. “We have girls that work really hard every day both in and out of the water.”

Two individuals are close to district times. But Mariner doesn’t measure success in terms of district qualifiers.

“Our success is measured in improvement from beginning to end, how many people that become water safe and how many gain a love for athletics and health,” Parker-Angelos said.

The last two years, the Marauders have earned the WIAA’s highest academic award.

“They have a lot of spirit and teamwork,” Parker-Angelos said.
