The Mukilteo School District’s first major high school is celebrating a major milestone this school year.

Mariner High School is celebrating its 50th anniversary throughout the 2019-2020 school year.

The Beacon is working on a story to celebrate the milestone for next week’s issue, and we’d love to hear from you!

Are you a Mariner graduate who wants to share your experience attending the school? Email Mukilteo Beacon Editor Brandon Gustafson at mukilteoeditor@yourbeacon.net with your thoughts/experiences at Mariner for a chance to be included in next week’s issue.

Per Mariner principal Nate DuChesne, the school will be celebrating the anniversary throughout the year, including a large celebration Oct. 11 in the Mariner Commons during the school’s homecoming week, and all Mariner alumni are invited (look for more information on that in next week’s Beacon).

The school already kicked off the celebration, as DuChesne said the school had Jack Campbell, the first vice-principal, and Marilyn Ricketts, the first PE teacher and girls’ track coach, come and speak at the Mariner staff’s “Welcome Back Breakfast” last week.
