The Mukilteo Little League Majors softball team, the “Mavericks,” recently took second place in the District 1 Little League All Star Tournament. The tournament was held last week in Arlington.

The girls lost their first game against Mill Creek, which put them in the loser’s bracket of the double elimination tournament. In order to make it to the finals, they had to win every game, which they did.

The girls worked hard and worked as a team, pushing and encouraging each other to play harder and better. The end result was a spot in the finals. This would be their chance to avenge their loss in the first round.

On July 4, the Mavericks had to play the undefeated Mill Creek team again to win the championship. The girls had a rough first inning but slowly started to make a charge at Mill Creek. The charge was just a little too late. Mill Creek held off the Mavericks to win the championship and giving Mukilteo a second place finish.

Mukilteo was the only team in the tournament to score against Mill Creek.

The girls practiced six days a week for two weeks to get ready for the tournament.
