Watch out local pizza chains, you have some new competition.

MOD Pizza is now open for business here in Mukilteo, having opened last Friday, Nov. 17.

According to MOD, the first 52 customers received their food for free, and they also donated all proceeds from their opening day to Mukilteo schools.

“We will donate 100 percent of all pizza sales from today, our opening day, to the Mukilteo School Foundation to support their mission to encourage and reward excellence while supporting innovation and creativity in education,” Charlotte Wayte, a public relations manager for MOD Pizza said.

Scott and Ally Svenson founded MOD in Seattle back in November of 2008, and MOD will be celebrating its “birthday week” by donating proceeds of sales to non-profits.

“For every MOD and Mega-size pizza sold, Nov. 21 through Nov. 26, MOD will donate $1 which, in turn, will be used to create one meal through MOD’s partnership with Generosity Feeds, a non-profit committed to ending childhood hunger,” Wayte said. “The hearty, healthy meals will be distributed through food pantries and school backpack programs in the 26 states where MOD operates. Our goal is to donate 500,000 meals, including some into the Mukilteo community.”

Want to try it out? Mukilteo’s MOD Pizza is located at 11706 Mukilteo Speedway in the QFC shopping center parking lot where The Chocolate Mill used to be.
