New art exhibit at Rosehill

Oct 03, 2018

There will be a new art exhibit to be viewed at the Rosehill Community Center (304 Lincoln Ave.) starting this Saturday.

The artwork of Gene Jaress will be exhibited from Saturday, Oct. 6 thru Thursday, Dec. 27.

Gene Jaress has been a working artist for over 50 years, winning numerous awards in multiple mediums.

After serving in the Vietnam War, he studied at Cornish Art School.

Painting, sculpture, printmaking and jewelry studies were followed by a career as a master jeweler.

As a painter, he uses an indirect style, using many thin transparent layers of oil paint to create a luminous atmospheric expression.

Jaress believes in thoroughly mastering the medium he works in to produce an excellent piece of art from the support to the frame.

There is an artist reception that is open to the public on Thursday, Oct. 11 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Rosehill.
