New student directors named for 2014-15 school year | board report

During its meeting on May 27, the Mukilteo School Board did the following:

Appointed the three students who will serve as student directors during the 2014-15 school year. The new student directors are Josue Romero from ACES High School, Madison Bogart from Kamiak High School and Navya Janapati from Mariner High School.

Adopted the Educational Specifications for the new elementary school to be built south of Lake Stickney. The document will serve as a guide for the design and layout of the new building.

Heard staff reports about and discussed the following: proposed revisions to the Student Rights and Responsibilities Handbook, the plan for implementing the requirements of the federal Healthy Hunger-Free Kids Act, a proposal to reschedule the date of the July school board meeting to July 14, and the superintendent’s final recommendation for the school district’s 2014-15 operating budget.

During a board work session held before the general business meeting, the board discussed the state’s accountability index and high school arts programs. In a closed session, board members also discussed collective bargaining issues.
