New website matches aerospace, manufacturing employers with recent grads

Washington state aerospace and manufacturing companies have a new tool to find skilled workers faster – a list of recent program graduates on a new web-based tool created by the Center of Excellence for Aerospace and Advanced Manufacturing at www.a2m2.net.

The center, a one-stop resource center for education and industry, is located at Everett Community College in Everett.

Its new website lists graduates from 18 of the state’s community colleges in assembly, aviation maintenance technology, CNC machining, composites, electronics, machine maintenance, precision machining, quality assurance and welding.

Human resource and hiring managers in aerospace and manufacturing companies statewide can search for the number of graduates from each college program, graduation dates, skill sets and type of degree.

“The goal of the system is to enable faster hiring of skilled labor in these industry areas,” said Mary Kaye Bredeson, executive director of the center.

Local college contacts along with program listings by cluster are built into the program.

It is expected that more of Washington’s 34 community and technical colleges will post program listings on the website over time.

The graduation dates and number of graduates per program are a key element to the tool because hiring managers can contact the program instructor directly to set up interviews with graduates.

The center is working with community and technical colleges across the state to share curriculum, align education with industry training needs and develop partnerships to support aerospace and manufacturing education.
