Nominate a Teacher of the Year in Ivar's contest

Apr 18, 2012

Ivar’s restaurant is looking for the area’s best teachers in its Teacher of the Year contest.

Students in kindergarten through eighth grade can nominate their favorite teacher by filling out a nomination form at Ivar’s or filling out a form online for a chance to win 2012 Teacher of the Year honors.

The two winning teachers will receive $500 for classroom supplies and the students that nominated the teachers will receive either a classroom chowder party (including a visit by Ivar’s famous dancing clam!).

Nominations must be received by May 20. The official Teacher of the Year rules can be found on Ivar’s website at

The contest will also award four teachers first prize of a $150 gift card for school supplies, and 30 teachers will receive second prize of a $25 Ivar’s gift card.

Ivar’s ninth annual Teacher of the Year contest was inspired by heart-warming stories of teachers’ positive contributions in and out of the classroom.

As in previous years, the contest seeks to honor educators that go above and beyond the call of duty to teach, mentor and support their students.

The 2011 Ivar’s Teacher of the Year grand prize winners were Ann Swain of Woodin Elementary in Bothell and Diane Trudnowski of Seattle’s Maple Elementary.

Nomination forms are available at the Ivar’s Mukilteo Landing full service restaurant and fish bar at 710 Front St., next to the Mukilteo ferry dock.
