Northshore Christian Academy’s re-established fifth/sixth grade track team wrapped up its season on Tuesday, May 21 in West Seattle.

Training on the grounds of the school without the benefit of a track, the 35 athletes showed their flexibility, determination and excitement as most of them attempted multiple events for the first time.

Competing with 14 middle schools from Marysville to Puyallup, the team brought home over 300 ribbons in their four meets and set 17 school records, some of which have stood since 2008.

Several of the athletes produced marks that rank them among the top participants in local area middle school leagues including sixth graders Luke Posey in the 400-meter race (1.08:74) and discus (75 feet, 2 inches), Kiera Shander in the 400 (1:13.13) and 800 (2:57.14), Juli Williams in the 100 (14.53) and fifth graders Kami Bovey in the 100 (15.81) and Kimberly Beard in both the 6-pound shot put (28-1) and the discus (79-4).
