Police to hold active-shooter exercise at Kamiak

Jul 19, 2017

Kamiak High School and the Mukilteo School District have partnered with the city of Mukilteo to host an extended active-shooter training exercise.

This multi-agency exercise will take place on from 1-10 p.m. Thursday, July 27.

Such exercises benefit first responders in terms of preparation training, as well as Kamiak and the high school community in terms of extended security based upon familiarity with the school campus.

During the event, there will be a significant presence of police vehicles and security within and around the perimeter of Kamiak. This will be a simulation exercise and no live ammunition will be used.

“This multi-agency exercise is designed to enhance the effectiveness of the SWAT active shooter response to area locations and other similar critical incidents,” Mukilteo Police Chief Cheol Kang said.

“Training sessions like these are necessary to identify weaknesses, sharpen skills, and maintain the best tactical practices for successful outcomes.”
