Police swarmed the Picnic Point area last Wednesday, Oct. 17, after a man brandishing a knife reportedly sexually assaulted a woman.

The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Department had their K-9 unit in the area, and also had K-9 units from the Lynnwood and Seattle Police Departments assisting in the search for the sexual assault suspect. Also involved were a helicopter, drone, marine unit and search-and-rescue trackers.

The victim is an adult female who was walking on a trail at Meadowdale Beach Park in unincorporated Snohomish County at Picnic Point.

The incident occurred just before 9 a.m., said Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Courtney O’Keefe.

The suspect is described as a white male, 30 to 40 years old, and he was reportedly wearing a baseball cap, a dark, hooded sweatshirt, and had a scarf around his neck.

As of Tuesday, Oct. 23, the suspect was not found, O'Keefe said.

There was also a reported sexual assault at Everett Community College on Monday, Oct. 15.

Campus security released a statement saying a female student reported that Monday evening, a man she did not know spoke with her inside a café on campus and then grabbed her butt twice.

She said she later saw the same man driving a gray van a few hours later just off campus. He offered her a ride home, which she accepted, and in the van, she reported that he attempted to rape her.

The man in that incident was described as just under 6 feet tall, African American, with no facial hair, and very short hair.
