School district OKs budget, employee contracts

The Mukilteo School District has approved its budget for the year, as well as collective bargaining agreements with district employee groups.

During its Aug. 28 meeting the school board adopted operating budgets for the 2017-18 school year, as well as 2018 excess levy collections for its general, capital and debt service funds.

The school district’s General Fund budget for the year is $215.1 million, the Capital Projects Fund budget is $59.9 million and the Debt Service Fund budget is $14 million.

The General Fund Maintenance and Operation Excess Levy for 2018 collection is established at $44.2 million. The Capital Projects Fund Excess Levy for 2018 collection is established at $4 million and the Debt Service Fund Excess Levy for 2017 collection is established at just less than $15.4 million.

During its Sept. 5 meeting, the school board approved a four-year collective bargaining agreement with the Mukilteo Educational Services Personnel, which represents the para-educators who work in Mukilteo schools.

The board also approved a three-year collective bargaining agreement with the Mukilteo ExtraCurricular Classified Unit, which represents coaches, club advisors and other staff members who receive stipends for leading extra-curricular activities.
