Superintendent Marci Larsen has selected a replacement for recently resigned Mukilteo Elementary School Principal Ausencio “Cinco” Delgado: former Harbour Pointe Middle School Assistant Principal Jonathan “Jack” Sackett.

Sackett, 47, of Edmonds most recently served as an elementary principal at Seaview Elementary in the Edmonds School District. Prior to that, he was assistant principal at Harbour Pointe Middle School from 2007 to 2010.

Delgado, who announced his resignation in May, had been at Mukilteo Elementary for nearly a year. Upon his departure, Kamiak High School’s former assistant principal of 12 years Pat Schmidt stepped in as interim principal for the remainder of the school year.

This month, the district advertised the position and convened school stakeholders to help select a replacement.

“Mukilteo staff and parents have been involved in the hiring and interview process,” Larsen wrote in a June 26 letter.

“Based on the input received from Mukilteo Elementary stakeholders, the district focused on considering candidates who were experienced leaders, believed in the Leader in Me program, and had the ability to blend the program with the District vision and goals.”

Sackett’s former school, Seaview Elementary, is also a Leader in Me program school. That program is an innovative, school-wide model that enables educators to unleash each child's full potential to become leaders with 21st century skills.

“Please join us in welcoming him to the Mukilteo School District community,” Larsen wrote. “He is looking forward to meeting staff, students and parents.”

Sackett is set to start July 1 ahead of the 2017-18 school year.
