Seahawks’ mascot, Blitz, to visit Columbia Elementary

Apr 25, 2018

On Wednesday, May 2nd, Columbia Elementary is welcoming Seattle Seahawks mascot, Blitz, and a Sea Gal to celebrate the success their students have accomplished through the Fuel Up to Play 60 (FUTP60) program.

FUTP60 is a national in-school program supported locally in partnership by the Seattle Seahawks and Dairy Farmers of Washington that promotes healthy eating and physical activity in Washington schools.

Columbia Elementary students recognize that healthy students are better students and they have implemented healthy behaviors in their school with help from FUTP60. In their classrooms, Columbia students identified healthy snack options like low-fat yogurt and string cheese, and encouraged one another to bring and share these snacks at school.

Teachers also implemented “Brain Breaks” during class using creative new programs to get students active and out of their desks during the school day.

Mukilteo School District first launched the FUTP60 program in 2015-2016, and continues to use nutrition and physical education funds provided by the program to support students to lead healthier lives.
