Snohomish County League of Women Voters hosting candidate forum

There will be a public forum for candidates for Snohomish County Council Districts 2 and 3 on July 1, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the public meeting rooms of the Drewel Building at the Snohomish County Campus i (3000 Rockefeller Ave, Everett).

District 2 includes Everett, Mukilteo and the Tulalip tribes. It is currently served by Brian Sullivan, a former Mukilteo mayor and councilmember. District 3 includes Edmonds, Lynnwood and Woodway and is currently served by Stephanie Wright.

The forum is organized by the Voter Service Committee of the Snohomish County League of Women Voters. The League submits some questions to candidates in advance but also provides opportunity for attendee to submit questions. A moderator will ask all questions.

For Position 2, Sullivan is term-limited, and eight seek to fill his seat.

Seven Democrats have filed for office. Two from Mukilteo – Jennifer Gregerson and Louis Harris – and five from Everett – Sharita Burton, Megan Dunn, Alex Lark, Tyler Verda, and Cecilia Wilson.

One Republican from Mukilteo – Anna Rohrbough – has also filed.

Wright, a Democrat, is running to keep her District 3 seat. She is running against Democrat Meier G. Lowenthal and Willie Russell, who did not state a party affiliation.

 

The League of Women Voters is a non-partisan promoter of informed voter participation. It does not support parties or candidates but does study and then take positions on issues.
