Students walking to school can expect construction

Aug 30, 2017

Mukilteo School District students who plan to walk to school along 4th Ave. W this September can expect to come across construction activity.

School walking routes won’t be blocked, but students who walk to Olivia Park Elementary, Discovery Elementary, Voyager Middle School or Mariner High School can expect to see Snohomish County Public Works crews improving pedestrian ramps and crosswalk pushbuttons at several intersections.

The first project is scheduled to begin at the 108th Street SW intersection on Tuesday, Sept. 5. Subsequent construction work on the 4th Ave. W corridor will follow.

Construction hours will be between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday through Friday. A pedestrian escort will be available at the crosswalk during construction hours, and access to the crosswalk will be available during non-construction hours.

These projects are part of the county’s effort to update walkways in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. For more information, email or call 425-388-ROAD (6723).
