Jul 25, 2018

“The Wizard of All Aboard” is this year’s annual play created by participants at All Aboard, an activities program for adults with special needs in Everett.

All Aboard is a 501c3 nonprofit organization of staff and volunteers that provide recreational, social, and educational activities for adults with special needs.

Activities include yoga, “Move & Groove,” Life Skills, Bowling, Drama, Sing-A-Long, lots of art and karaoke, and the S.P.I.N. Dance (Special People in Need). .

“This is an exceptionally rewarding place to be,” says Seanna Herring-Jensen, Program Manager. “The participants know how to have fun, they are creative, and they truly care about each other. We learn a lot from them and their approach to life. Who doesn’t want activity and laughter all day long?”

The play intertwines the daily activities of All Aboard and the “Wizard of Oz.”

“The Wizard of All Aboard” is a written by three All Aboard participants, Edward, Kacey, and Jay.

The actors and actresses consist of participants with varying abilities coached by Director, Diane Radabaugh.

“My twin sons have often been a positive and humorous force of support - as exemplified by my son Aaron, an All Aboard participant, once joyfully shouting from a years ago audience, ‘That’s my mom!’ just after I stepped out on to the stage to sing,” Radabaugh said. “Aaron’s exuberance has continued and his faith that his mom could help with ‘The Wizard of All Aboard' started me on the journey of directing the show’s enthusiastic cast. The cast is amazing in their support of each other.”

“We want to bring in the public and let them know what we do in a creative way,” said All Aboard playwright Edward Barnhart. “We don’t have ruby slippers, we have red bowling shoes!”

The All Aboard cast will be performing the play at the Everett Knights of Columbus Hall (2913 W Marine View Dr., Everett) at 6:30 pm on Wednesday, Aug. 1 and Aug. 8.

Donations are requested and will benefit the All Aboard Scholarship Fund so that more participants may be involved at All Aboard.
