Experience history in motion during the Historic Flight Foundation’s 10th annual Vintage Aircraft Weekend at Paine Field on Sept. 1-3.

View more than 65 vintage aircraft representing thirty of the most exciting years in aviation history, 1927-1957. VAW features top-flight entertainment, vintage fashion, flying displays, antique cars and military vehicles.

This year, the foundation is pleased to present renowned Bob Hope impersonator Bill Johnson and Company B, perhaps the most famous touring tribute to the Andrews Sisters.

On Friday, Sept. 1, VAW will kick off with the Big Band Dinner Dance, 6-10 p.m., in the Historic Flight Foundation’s main hangar. The seventeen-piece “Kings of Swing” will entertain as they have since 1942.

Keeping alive a rich musical tradition, some of the current players are grandchildren of the original “Kings.” Bill Johnson will rekindle memories of Bob Hope’s humor, swagger and USO tours. “Company B” will follow “Bob” with the music of Patty, Maxine and Laverne, the Andrews Sisters. Period attire is encouraged.

Tickets to the dinner are $70 and may be purchased online at http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/2980931.

On Saturday, Sept. 2, the main event begins at 9 a.m. Ride in a vintage airplane. Walk among 65 biplanes and warbirds, numerous vintage cars and military vehicles. Kids’ activities, live music, picnic food, and one-of-a-kind aerial maneuvers round out this unique festival.

At 2 p.m., Bill Johnson and Company B will recreate a USO review on the main VAW stage, and photographers are invited to a special Twilight Photoshoot.

On Sunday, Sept. 3, attendees will get a special opportunity to visit with pilots as they prepare for formation flight demonstrations and their flights home. Take a ride in an open-cockpit biplane. Tickets for attendance on Sunday may be pre-purchased on a two-for-one basis, so you can introduce a friend to Historic Flight.

Admission on Sept. 2-3 is $15 for adults, $12 for seniors and members of the military, $10 for youth, and free for ages 10 and under. Historic Flight Foundation members also get in free. To purchase tickets, visit http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/2913049

The Twilight Photoshoot and dinner on Saturday, Sept. 2 is $45 for Historic Flight members and $55 for non-members. To purchase tickets, visit http://2016vaw.bpt.me.
