Whelpley best candidate for 21st District | Letter

Jul 30, 2014

Editor, The Beacon:

Scott Whelpley is the best candidate for the state Legislature in the 21st District. He is the only candidate in the race who truly understands the importance of public education because his two children are in our public school system now.

Scott is also endorsed by our state Schools Superintendent Randy Dorn, who said “Scott Whelpley knows the challenges our public schools are facing because his young daughter and son attend our public schools.

“Scott is the only candidate with the leadership, experience and passion necessary to prioritize and overcome the challenges our schools face.”

Scott’s own education is a huge part of who he is today. His mother only completed eight years of her education. Scott was the first in his family to graduate from college.

From there, he served in the U.S. Navy for more than 20 years, and then returned to the University of Washington to earn his master’s degree in public administration.

If our public school system is a priority for you, then you should cast your vote for Scott Whelpley on Aug. 5.
