Where are police at 5th Street light? | Letter

Apr 02, 2014

Editor, The Beacon:

Just finished reading the complaint from the reader concerning the right turn onto 5th Street, [“Kudos & Complaints,” The Beacon, front page, March 26]. I have to agree.

I have had many close calls from people turning right onto 5th from the ferry traffic lane.

One time as I did a legal turn, someone in the ferry lane was upset with me and honked, flipped me off and then proceeded to tail gate me! Yet I have never seen Mukilteo police doing anything at this corner. I wonder why?

Mukilteo police are, unfortunately, very lax about traffic enforcement. The city is full of residents who speed, tailgate, and ignore stop signs with impunity. I recommend that you spend a couple of hours on a busy day taking some video of the illegally-operated cards - including their license numbers - and send them to the Chief of Police here. Maybe that will stir up some action.
